Library Location and Hours

We are pleased to offer extended hours of operation to accommodate the diverse schedules of our patrons. From Saturday to Thursday, our doors are open from 9:10 AM to 6:50 PM, allowing ample time for individuals to engage in scholarly pursuits, access resources, and seek assistance from our dedicated library staff. On Fridays, our library remains accessible until 7:50 PM, providing additional flexibility for those who require evening study sessions or research activities.
Please note that M Azizur Rahman Library observes a day off on Sundays, allowing our team to engage in essential maintenance activities and ensure the continued excellence of our services and facilities. We encourage you to plan your visits accordingly and take advantage of our extensive collection of resources, state-of-the-art facilities, and supportive learning environment.

Renew Books Online or Offline
Students, faculty and staff can access their library account while using the online catalog in the Uttara University library OPAC.
Access will provide an overview of the user account and enable the user to view the item currently checked out with due dates, holds, blocks or fines. Users will not be allowed to renew any items that are overdue or requested by other Users. Users can also renew books physically.
Note: Borrowers are responsible for all library materials which are issued by him/her.

Library Services at Circulation Desk
- Borrowing and Returning Materials:
Check out and return books, DVDs, CDs, and other library materials.
- Library Membership Registration:
Assist patrons in obtaining library membership and provide information on the application process.
- Renewal of Materials:
Allow patrons to renew borrowed materials if they need more time with them.
- Reserve Materials:
Facilitate the reservation or placing holds on materials that are currently checked out.
- Overdue Fines and Fees:
Handle payments for overdue fines, lost materials, or other fees.
- Interlibrary Loan Services:
Assist patrons in requesting materials from other libraries if they are not available locally.
- Information Assistance:
Answer questions related to the location of materials, library policies, and general information.
- Technology Assistance:
Provide support for library computers, printers, and other technology available to patrons.
- Course Reserves:
Manage materials that are set aside for specific courses and ensure their availability for students.
- Library Account Management:
Help patrons manage their library accounts, including updating personal information.
- Lost and Found:
Handle lost and found items within the library premises.
- Library Programs and Events:
Provide information about upcoming library programs, events, and workshops.
- Reference Services:
Offer basic reference assistance and guide patrons to more in-depth resources or librarians for research help.
- Library Policies Explanation:
Explain library policies and guidelines to patrons.
- Assistance with Self-Checkout Machines:
Help patrons use self-checkout machines for a quicker borrowing process.
- Accessibility Services:
Provide assistance or accommodations for patrons with disabilities.
- Library Surveys and Feedback:
Collect feedback from patrons and conduct surveys to improve library services.
Fines
- Overdue Fine Policy:
A nominal fine of 10 Taka per day will be applied to all library users for overdue general books.
- Damaged Materials and Equipment:
Patrons will be responsible for covering the cost, as determined by the library authority, for any mutilated, damaged, or broken library materials and audiovisual equipment.
- Confined Library Materials:
An hourly fine of 10 Taka will be imposed on all library users for materials kept beyond the designated timeframe in confined library spaces.
Note: Borrowers are responsible for knowing when an item is due.
Group Study Room Policy
Group Study Room is designed to enhance the library users' collaborative learning experience within the library. These guidelines ensure fair access and optimal utilization of our dedicated group study spaces. Please familiarize yourself with the following information to make the most of your group study sessions.
- Group study rooms are designed for a minimum of 4 patrons and can accommodate up to 8 patrons at a time.
- To access a group study room, patrons are required to present their UU ID card to the personnel on duty at the Circulation Desk. A key will be provided to facilitate entry into the designated room.
- Each group is allowed a two-hour duration for their study session. If additional time is desired, groups may renew their booking based on room availability.
E-Resources Center (library computer lab) Usage Policy
- Purpose:
The E-Resources Center (ERC) at M Azizur Rahman Library is designed to provide access to electronic resources and support academic research, study, and learning activities. This policy outlines the guidelines and expectations for the use of computers and resources within the ERC to ensure fair and equitable access for all users.
- Access and Eligibility:
- The ERC is available for use by current students, faculty, and staff of Uttara University.
- Users must present a valid student or staff identification card to gain access to the ERC.
- External users may be granted access to the ERC with prior approval from library staff.
- Conduct and Behavior:
- Users are expected to adhere to the institution's code of conduct and behave in a respectful and courteous manner while using the ERC.
- Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited within the ERC.
- Users must refrain from engaging in activities that disrupt or disturb others in the ERC, including excessive noise, loud conversations, or playing audio without headphones.
- Personal belongings should be kept secure at all times, and users are responsible for their own property.
- Computer and Internet Use:
- Computers in the ERC are intended for academic and research purposes only.
- Users must log in using their assigned credentials and may not share login information with others.
- Unauthorized installation, modification, or deletion of software or system files is strictly prohibited.
- Users must respect copyright laws and licensing agreements when accessing and using electronic resources.
- Internet browsing should be conducted in a responsible manner, and users must refrain from accessing inappropriate or offensive content.
- Printing and Copying:
- Printing and copying services are available within the ERC for academic purposes only.
- Users are responsible for managing their printing and copying quotas and must not exceed allocated limits.
- Copyrighted materials may not be reproduced without permission from the copyright holder.
- Security and Safety:
- Users are prohibited from tampering with or attempting to bypass security measures in the ERC.
- Users must log out of computers and secure their accounts before leaving the ERC.
- In case of emergency or technical issues, users should notify library staff immediately for assistance.
- Enforcement:
- Library staff reserves the right to enforce this policy and take appropriate action against individuals found in violation, including restricting access to the ERC.
- Serious or repeated violations may result in disciplinary action in accordance with institutional policies.
By using the E-Resources Center, users agree to abide by the terms outlined in this policy. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the loss of access privileges and other disciplinary measures.
